The Jacksonville Jaguars The team announced the signing of quarterback Kyle Slaughter. Jaguars released quarterback EJ Perry with a non-football related injury label. Sloter will now have a chance to compete for a reserve spot behind Trevor Lawrence.
Sloter was the All-USFL pick after his first season with the New Orleans Breakers earlier this year. He passed 1,798 yards and made nine touchdowns in nine games. He led the breaker to the playoffs only to lose to eventual champion Birmingham Stallion.
Sloter was 22 for 40 with 328 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in a match loss and seemed to be doing enough to pique the Jaguars’ interest.
The 28-year-old enters the Jaguars camp with some NFL experience. He was the midfielder in Northern Colorado She signed with the Denver Broncos in 2017 as a non-written free agent.
He’s bounced from Minnesota Vikings to Arizona Cardinals to Detroit Lions to Chicago Bears to Las Vegas Raiders He then returned to the Vikings before finding himself with the USFL’s Breakers in the spring.
Lawrence is likely to be the starting midfielder for the foreseeable future. Sloter will be looking to bounce back CJ Beathard as the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart. The team also has Jake Lawton.
Jacksonville was 3-14 years old in 2022, and the team enters the 2022 season with a new season Coach Doug Pederson.
