Brad Keselowski comments on the time it takes to roll the car again after the Pocono race track crash

On Saturday, the NASCAR Xfinity Series was unloaded at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, PA. At the start of the third stage, Jeb Burton went on a road trip.

Santino Ferrucci set off at Turn 4. He poked the gas in an attempt to push it away from the outer wall. As he did so, smoke billowed across the track and obscured the view of the field when they entered the scene.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. went alongside Ferrucci. As he slid across the track, the Stenhouse Jr machine drove alongside Burton as Burton was trying to squeeze between the Stenhouse Jr’s spinning car and the pit lane wall.

Upon impact, Burton flew toward the sky. The car landed on its door and then rolled onto its roof. Burton slid several hundred feet onto his roof before just stopping off the flag stand.

Over the radio, Burton’s crew asked, “This is going to take a minute. Are you okay here?”

Jeb Burton replied, “Yes man, I did everything I could there.”

A security guard ran to the window of Burton’s pocket. He lay on the floor talking to him during the whole process.

Brad Keselowski comments on the time it took to roll the car again

A tow truck connected to a Burton device. Then they slowly rolled the car on its wheels.

Brad Keselowski tweeted, “4 minutes. Improvements from May.”

Keselowski was referring to the amount of time it took the AMR safety team to return the Burton jeep. Back in May, RFK Racing driver Chris Buescher went through the same spin.

Santino Ferrucci’s comments

“I got really close to Cole [Custer]Ferrucci said.

“Being a part-timer, it’s really hard to judge the air coming out of these cars. I made a mistake. I went down a bit from the bottom and got close to it. I started losing my ass.”

“Our car hasn’t been loose all day. It’s a shame for everyone else because so many cars got stuck in that.”

Ferrucci added: “We qualified 11th, which is my first ever qualifier. We were racing there all day. Not how I wanted my house race to go.”

Comments by Ricky Stenhouse Jr

“It looked like Santino got a little loose there,” said Stenhouse Jr.

“I thought he was going. Unfortunately, he wasn’t. Then Jeep sped off there.”

“It was too soft for us. Maybe a little harder, for Geb.”

Stenhouse Jr concluded, “Overall, it’s really fun to be back in the Xfinity series. I hate that I didn’t get another 40 laps there. I was having so much fun.”

Jeb Burton comments

Moments after the accident, Jeb Burton emerged from the care center uninjured.

“Man, that wasn’t good,” said Gib Burton.

“These guys work really hard on our race cars. And we don’t have a lot of cars. Ripping off another car, two weeks in a row, is not good.”

“I appreciate the safety crew that got me so quickly. It has been a tough year but we will continue to research and work on some good things for the year ahead.”

Burton added: “We can build another race car. Glad I’m doing well.”
