Jack Hermanson explains his post-fight showdown with Chris Curtis at UFC London: ‘Something slipped off my tongue’

Jack Hermanson He has no hard feelings for Chris Curtis.

On Saturday, Hermanson faced Curtis in the co-main event UFC London He won the unanimous decision as he moved around Curtis and took him with long-range kicks and punches. After the last trumpet blew, Hermansson and Curtis got into a minor altercation, and exchanged words in the center of the cage with Curtis as he overturned Hermansson. In his post-fight interview, Hermansson explained that his adrenaline was overpowering him at the moment causing him to say something, and later Talk to reporters behind the scenes“The Joker” has apologized for the incident, saying he hopes to have a chance to talk to Curtis about it soon.

“I can not remember [what was said] He was, like, making fun of me, and then something slipped off my tongue, Hermanson explained. “I’m a little frustrated with myself because I got stuck in it because it’s all about sportsmanship. I want the sport to be clean and after a fight we should be good friends. So I really apologize to Chris Curtis for that…

“I do not have [spoken to him yet], Unfortunately. I would like a confrontation and once again, I very much apologize for my bad behavior.”

It takes two people to have the accident, and while Hermansson may have caused the accident, Curtis then admitted that he played a role and intended to bury the hatchet with Hermansson.

It was Hermanson’s first win since teammate Curtis’ split decision was dropped Shaun Strickland Earlier this year, he retains the middleweight titles mix. Having come out of this bout relatively unscathed, Hermansson – who currently ranks 12th in the MMA Fighting world rankings – is aiming for a rumored UFC return to Sweden in November.

“I would love to be on that card and want to fight someone in the world rankings for the next card. Keep going up towards that big goal,” Hermanson said. “I’d like to fight someone I didn’t fight. I’ve fought a lot of players within the ranking already. So someone I didn’t fight. We have Paulo Costahave Robert WhitakerTwo names I didn’t fight.

Of course there’s another middleweight that Hermansson hasn’t fought against and it might be a more obvious choice: Darren Tell. He was originally supposed to face Hermanson even at UFC London until Thiel withdrew from the match due to injury. This is the second time Till has been forced out of a fight with Hermansson, and if Till is ready to go by November, Hermansson is willing to give him another chance.

“Of course I’m interested in fighting,” Hermanson said. “It’s a great fight and I think Darren is a huge opponent. He has a lot of fans. He’s a fan favorite, but it’s a little scary to book against him for the third time. But the third time is magic, so maybe.”
