A man accused of shooting a Rochester Police Officerthe officer’s partner and a close person were injured, and he pleaded their innocence on Saturday.
During a brief court appearance, Kelvin Vickers pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, attempted murder, assault and weapons charges. He ordered it without bail.
According to police, the 21-year-old fired several shots at a parked unmarked car late Thursday, killing 29-year-old veteran officer Anthony Mazurkevich and injuring officer Sinu Singh. A 15-year-old girl in a nearby house was also shot.
The two officers were part of a plainclothes unit and were investigating a murder. Vickers was found an hour later in an empty house nearby, and police said a loaded pistol was found that may have been used in the shooting.

Vickers is from the Boston area and has an extensive criminal background, according to police, who did not say why Vickers was in Rochester.
The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reported that a defense attorney represented him at Saturday’s indictment, but indicated he would seek his attorney.
Singh was injured in the lower body and was treated in hospital and discharged. And authorities said, on Friday, that the girl, who was hit by a bullet that penetrated the wall, was recovering.
